ENTER THE VOID by Manuel Calabrese
The main topic for the development of this special project was researching the Japanese Culture and bulding a 6 looks collection based on that.
My vision tells a story based on the documentary "NO SEX PLEASE WE ARE JAPANESE", a BBC project that speaks about the contemporary virginity and natality crisis in Japan caused by the Sexual Massive Japanese Markets.
The "VOID" inspired by Gaspar Noe's movie, reflect both the concept of a deep journey into the Japanese teenagers' weaknesses as well as the reflection of my persona! experience during this challenge.
Outfit 1
The concept of reality distortion is expressed through the vision of an Infrared Cracked Psychedelic Body Print.
For the coat and the pants, The artwork is displayed digitally on a velvet surface and then doubled with an aluminum foil in order to give memory to the garments. The shirt, gloves and Underwear are made out of digitally printed Lycra.
Outfit 2
This look follows the idea of recreating a vintage hentai magazine cover through the 4 yarns Jacquard SHIMA technique.
The coat is fully knitted and lined in Black Silk, the details in a pink fine cotton Gabardine. The shorts as well are cut in a Cotton Gabardine, the leggings are printed placed lycra, the turtleneck printed velvet.
Outfit 3
The Dye-sublimation printing technique explores the materic concept of a wrinkled hentai magazine page. Distorted "LSD" Hentai artworks are displayed on a previously cracked and fused nylon popeline car coat and shorts. The turtleneck, leggins, mask and gloves are digitally printed.
Outfit 4
In this look the concept of reality decompression is expressed through the vision of an Infrared Stretched out Psychedelic Body.
The Deconstructed Suit is made and fully lined in Lycra, digitally printed on placement. The turtleneck, as well, digitally printed velvet.
